Douglas County deputies have arrested a man they say aimed a blue laser at a medical helicopter in Gardnerville Wednesday night.
Deputies say they dispatched to near Pinenut Road just before 9:15 p.m. on the report that a medical helicopter was being targeted by a laser from the ground.
Upon arrival, deputies say they made contact with the helicopter pilot, who reported being struck again by the laser while in flight.
Deputies found a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck parked along the roadside and contacted the driver. Through their investigation, deputies say they determined the driver, identified as Jakob Green, had intentionally directed the blue laser at the aircraft.
Green was arrested and charged with directing a laser device at an aircraft, as well as an outstanding felony warrant for stalking/harassment. He was transported to the Minden Jail and booked on a total bail amount of $13,140.00.
“Any attempt to interfere with emergency vehicles or aircraft will not be tolerated and will be strictly enforced. Acts like this place lives at serious risk,” said Sheriff Coverley.
