PCSO Saint Patrick's Day Operation

According to the Placer County Sheriff’s Office in an online post, deputies are preparing for a targeted enforcement effort tied to St. Patrick’s Day celebrations.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says it will conduct an operation aimed at reducing underage drinking and preventing alcohol related DUI injuries and deaths from Friday, March 13, through Tuesday, March 17.

The effort will focus on limiting youth access to alcoholic beverages through a mix of education, enforcement, and a visible law enforcement presence during the holiday period.

Deputies say they will carry out both undercover operations and high-visibility enforcement during the operation.

Enforcement will focus on violations, including the sale or furnishing of alcohol to children, sales to people who are obviously intoxicated, and other alcohol related offenses.

Deputies say the goal is to improve compliance with California alcohol laws while reinforcing the legal consequences tied to providing alcohol to people under 21.

The operation is also meant to raise public awareness that selling, serving, or furnishing alcohol to children is a criminal offense and can be prosecuted by local city and district attorneys.

The Placer County Sheriff’s Office says it is working in coordination with the California Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control.

Officials say the project is part of the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control Minor Decoy and Shoulder Tap Grant Project, funded by the California Office of Traffic Safety.
